“I believe in God the Father Almighty.”
Most of us “know” that God is almighty — that He can do anything and everything he chooses. What is difficult for us to grasp, though, is that God is almighty in our everyday lives. I myself deal with this a lot, especially in the technical realm, where I consider myself quite knowledgeable. Asking God for help is not something that comes naturally to me.
While God is Almighty, He is also Father. This suggests that when we ask Him to intervene in our lives that He will. A father does not wish to see his children come to harm and God, the Almighty Father, will not allow us to come to harm. This doesn’t mean that we won’t have trouble. Being our Father, He will chasten us when we need it. “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” (Heb 12:11 - NIV) May we remember this when our Almighty Father seemingly doesn’t intervene — He really is intervening , though not in the way we think!
