After years of isolation due to the blue plague, the land of Carrock is finally opening to the outside world again. King Dylan sends Prince Kyle to the land of Geshur to begin trade negotiations. As Geshurian custom dictates, Kyle returns to Carrock with the high-born girl, Ilayda, as surety for the ratification of the trade agreement. While the Geshurian leaders expect a marital bond between the prince and Ilayda, the situation is not so simple, for Kyle has met a mysterious huntress in the forests of Carrock and he is smitten by her. However, she harbors a great secret, which could be the downfall of the land of Carrock. While of high birth and accustomed to the responsibilities and privileges that come with it, Ilayda also seems to have issues that make choosing her questionable. Caught between two lovely young women, Kyle must navigate the reality of being the prince and thus needing to marry to rule rather than for love. Which of the girls is right for him? Are either of them even right for him and for his kingdom?
